We love to speak about stories of success and the brilliant work our team do. Success can be measured in many different ways and our goal is to support the students in our care and bring out the best in them.
The team at Pengwern College said goodbye to the amazing Rhys during Summer 2020. Rhys, one of our blind students has made some incredible achievements since he first started with us including being able to navigate his surroundings, how to prepare food safely in the kitchen and also picked up a few tricks on the piano! To give him a send-off he鈥檒l remember, the team put all his best memories into a picture book paired with an audio experience so he could re-live some of his highlights from over the years.

"Wow - what can I say! I鈥檝e been at 糖心官网 Pengwern College all morning, supporting staff for L鈥檚 healthcare needs for her first day at college. What an absolutely WONDERFUL college, with such WONDERFUL staff taking such good care of L. L has two lovely 1:1s who are very hands on and extremely caring, who have now been named 鈥淏estie鈥� by L.
听
Lots more paperwork has been completed too today, for L鈥檚 induction day and her timetable has been all set out for her. Cookery, Animal care, ILS, Essential learning, music and some work experience has been added in too, for L to work in the tuck shop, serving staff and other students, to help her with money skills and communication. L enjoyed seeing the animals this morning, including feeding two donkeys, and laughing as Terri the Turkey kept walking into the classrooms, then a lovely little walk through the woodland area, singing 鈥淲e鈥檙e going on a bear hunt鈥�.

I left L to come home, but I am very relaxed, knowing L was very happy and safe, and she will be home about 4:30pm."

Young people's needs are consistently met through nurturing relationships and bespoke care. Young people are supported to express their views and opinions through a variety of individualised communication methods, including Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), Makaton, and their own spoken language.
