Safeguarding Statement

Ìý

The parents of students at Potterspury Lodge School should be aware that the school has a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of their students. This responsibility necessitates a safeguarding policy and the school may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. This policy on child protection is in accordance with the locally agreed inter-agency procedures and authority processes. The policy also complies with guidance from the Department for Education DfE and the Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) and Safeguarding Sub-group Board on which our Head Teacher sits. The school recognises it is an agent of referral and not of investigation and will always act in the interests of the child.

Ìý

ÌýAnyone can make a referral to children’s social care, if necessary. The designated safeguarding lead (DSL) for the school is Mr J Amps (Head Teacher) and the deputy DSL team are: Mr J Mayer (Assistant Head), Mr A Jordan (Deputy Head), Ms C Cooper (Assistant Head) and Miss J Osborne (Pastoral Mentor).

Current pupils make clear progress from their diverse starting points. Many arrive with gaps in their earlier education, and leaders take these into account when planning the curriculum. They ensure the curriculum aligns with pupils’ education, health and care plans and make regular checks on how well pupils are developing their academic, social and emotional knowledge, and skills.
